SOCAM is the first mover in the special situation market segment and our accumulated experience and expertise are well-recognised in the industry.
Since 2006, SOCAM has focused primarily on the acquisition and development of medium-to-large-scale properties in special situation in Mainland China. These partially completed projects are located in prime locations of major and secondary cities in China with shorter development cycles. Once acquired, they will be upgraded and, upon completion, will either be sold or leased. This business allows us to achieve quick asset turnover. So far, we have turned around 22 well-diversified portfolios of property assets comprising top-grade commercial, retail, and residential projects, many of which have been completed and disposed of.
Following the announcement of our strategic monetisation plan in March 2013, our existing property portfolio primarily comprises six projects in Chengdu, Chongqing, Guangzhou, Nanjing, Tianjin and Shenyang. Backed by our wholly-owned investment management arm, SOCAM Asset Management Limited (SAM), we are taking proactive steps to enhance asset values, including calibrating the design and tenant mix of our four retail properties to raise customer traffic and increase rentals.
