Construction is the business that accounts for the Shui On Group's origin more than 35 years ago. It has proven to be a strong and resilient operation, and continues to maintain a leading position in the industry.

The construction division, operating mainly under Shui On Building Contractors Limited (SOBC), Shui On Construction Company Limited (SOC) and Pat Davie Limited, focuses on construction, design-and-build, interior fitting-out, renovation, heritage restoration, as well as maint enance of public housing, residential and institutional buildings.

Over the years SOCAM's construction division has won many prestigious awards in recognition of its outstanding achievements in construction quality, project progress, and health, safety and environmental management.

As a leading conglomerate, SOBC and SOC were the first two construction companies awarded the Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series (OHSAS) 18001 certification in Hong Kong by the Hong Kong Quality Assurance Agency (HKQAA). In addition, SOBC and SOC were both awarded ISO 14001 certification in 1999.

SOBC, as one of the largest contractors for government housing projects, has the honour of being the first contractor in Hong Kong to obtain ISO 9002 certification in building construction works. The ISO 9002 certification of SOBC and SOC were successfully converted to ISO 9001: 2000 standard in 2002.

As a key player in Hong Kong's construction industry, SOCAM always gives priority to safety, occupational health and environmental protection. It set up Health Safety and Environment (HSE) Department to formulate and implement related policies and ensure our operations are conducted safely, efficiently and in an environmentally friendly manner.
