Cement plant in China
SOCAM has solid experience and expertise
in the cement sector in the Chinese Mainland.

The growth of our cement business will bring
benefits in terms of increasing economy of
scale and profitability.

Since 1994, Shui On has actively invested in the cement business in the Chinese Mainland, notably in Chongqing, Guizhou, Nanjing and Yunnan, through the acquisition of existing state-owned plants and adding newly built production lines.

In November 2005, SOCAM joint ventured with Lafarge S.A., the largest cement producer globally, to form Lafarge Shui On Cement Limited (LSOC), injecting into LSOC its key cement interests in Chongqing and Yunnan together with dry rotary lines in Guizhou. LSOC has become the leading cement producer in Southwest China and SOCAM retains interests in the 60%-owned Nanjing Jiangnan Cement grinding station as well as five plants in Guizhou, which have not been injected into LSOC.
